Some Weight Loss Essentials

The decision to lose weight should not be taken lightly. It may sound easy on paper but sticking to a diet requires a strong will and the strength to face the reality of the results not matching up to your expectations. Basically all you have to do is to make sure that your calorie intake is lower than the calories you burn.
The first problem is how to find out how many calories our body need everyday? There are a lot of formulas that can help you find that out depending on your age, sex, race etc, but the best way to find out is to consult a nutritionist that will make this calculus for your. Even so, the number is only an estimate and will fluctuate almost every day.
Physicians agree that in order to stay safe you should not lose more than 1 or two pounds every week. You should avoid trying to lose more as complications may arise. Anyway, even losing only one pound is quite a challenge. You have to cut up to 3500 calories from a week's calorie intake. It may sound like a lot but this can be easily achieved by cutting 500 calories from your daily intake. 500 calories is also the number most diets recommend.
The 500 calorie deficit can be achieved by reducing the calorie intake or by increasing the body's energy requirements (working out). You can do both in order to avoid depriving yourself or food. Working out will also help other areas of your general health.
